Jesus answered them and GAVE THEM THE SIGN: “When ye therefore shall see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)...” Mark reported: “But when ye shall see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand)” Luke's Report TELLS US PLAINLY what we're supposed to "UNDERSTAND": “And WHEN YE SHALL SEE JERUSALEM COMPASSED WITH ARMIES, THEN KNOW that the DESOLATION THEREOF is nigh.” The END-TIME ANNIHILATION of JERUSALEM IS THE ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION!! (Mat 24:15, Luk 21:20, Mar 13:14) ..... Let's TURN ON THE NEWS and see if armies are CURRENTLY surrounding Jerusalem?? --clark

The Great Tribulation: Deliverance of God’s People

In Bible prophecy we see that God’s people are distinguished into two categories:

1. “The saints” (aka “the church”)
2.  “Israel” (aka “the holy people”)
Ultimately both groups will be joined as one (see The Bride, the Lamb's Wife) but, until such time, the prophecies draw a distinction between the two.   Excepting for those who die during the Tribulation (Luke 21:16-18), deliverance will arrive differently for “Israel” than for “the saints.”
In this brief article let’s focus on the 3½ year time periods that are specifically designated to each group.  It has been taught that these periods (“time, and times, and half a time”) are a way of dividing the 7-Year Tribulation into 2 halves.  Let’s look closer and we’ll see how Israel and the church are each given their own unique time sequences (that do not appear to be correlated to each other):

The following 3.5 years pertain to "the saints."  "Little horn" is allowed to "wear out the saints of the most High" "until the Ancient of days" comes (“judgment sits”):

"…I beheld, and the same horn [aka: “little horn,” “antichrist”] made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;  Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom… he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.   But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end.    And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.    Hitherto is the end of the matter. (Dan 7:20-28)"

So the antichrist will prevail against the church for the 3½ years. This ends when the “Ancient of Days” returns.” This occurs at the end of the Great Tribulation at the sounding of the 7th Trump:

“Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed (1Cr 15:51-52).”

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words (1Th 4:16-18).”

The saints will go through a very troubling time LEADING UP TO THE RAPTURE.  But what about God’s “holy people?”  The following 3.5 years is different than above and pertains to "Israel (Rev 12:1-5)."  At the time of the Abomination of Desolation (Matt 24:16, Mark 13:14, Luke 21:21), Israel escapes to the wilderness:

"And the woman [Israel] fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.  (Rev 12:6)"

"And to the woman [Israel] were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. (Rev 12:14)"

Daniel teaches us that Israel (Daniel's people) are going to "be delivered" during the Great Tribulation (Dan 12:1).  We are given the time period in Daniel 12: 7-13:

" shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when He shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished. (v.7)"

Here we are given the same 3.5 years stated above with an additional time added:

"and [in addition to, PLUS] when He shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people"

So how long does it take for God to finish the scattering His Holy people?  We are told in v.11-12:

"And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.   Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days. (Dan 12:11-12)"

We have just been given the timetable for the deliverance of Israel (Daniel's holy people) as pertaining to the Great Tribulation:

1.  30 Days = This is a 30-day warning period which starts when we see the "set up" of the Abomination of Desolation (v. 11, also Matt 24:14 & Mark 13:14).  I think this "set up" will be when "Jerusalem is compassed [surrounded] with armies."   The desolation of Jerusalem ("there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down") IS THE ACTUAL EVENT!

2.  1260 Days = 1290 days - (minus) the above 30 Days (Dan 12:11, Rev 12:6, & Rev 12:14).

3.  45 Days = 1335 days - (minus) the above 1290 Days (Dan 12:12).

So what is this “blessed” event, for Israel, that begins on this 1335th day (Dan 12:12)?

Daniel's people (God's holy people: Israel, all 12 Tribes) are being delivered!  God is now stopping His scattering process.  In these last days, 144,000 of the 12 Tribes of Israel are the first group to be raptured/resurrected/sealed (beingthe firstfruitsdescribed in Rev 14:4).  I think this sealing begins on the 1335th day shown above  and is completed over a 391 day (+ "one hour") period:

“And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.  And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants [12,000 from each Tribe] of our God in their foreheads And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,  Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates.   And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year [391 days +“one hour”], for to slay the third part of men. (Rev 7:1-3 & Rev 9:13-15)”

With this thinking, the 3.5 years of Tribulation, for the saints (Church) ends at the 7th Trump.  The 3.5 years for Israel, in the wilderness, begins at the Abomination of Desolation (following a 30 day warning period), and then (another 45 days later) their (Israel's) deliverance begins (Dan 12:1), lasting 391 days (+ "one hour").

I will soon be publishing a revised Tribulation Chart in PDF format.  As always, your remarks are welcome.  These comments are based on my current understanding and are subject to new and better revelation--clark

  1. First and foremost I'am no authority on the bible. But just for clarity sakes, i understand you as referencing the rapture period as happening towards the end or at the end of the tribulation period. This is very confusing seeing that most Christians believe that pre-tribute would be the legitimate period when God would rescue the church from the wrath to come.

  2. A pre-tribulation rapture is a very popular teaching, but it is not Biblical. What is Biblical is the teaching of a pre-wrath rapture. This means that God will rapture members of His Church prior to His hour of wrath (described in Revelation Chapters 15, 16, 17, and 18). This is explained in “Last Day Wrath of Satan vs. Last Day Wrath of God:”

In the Last Days true believers are described as “THE SEVEN CHURCHES (Rev 1:20).” As individual “Church members” we need to determine which of these 7 categories pertains to our own individual walk (see * below). Jesus gives this promise TO ONLY ONE of the seven:

“…I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name. Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee. Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I ALSO WILL KEEP THEE FROM THE HOUR OF TEMPTATION, WHICH SHALL COME UPON ALL THE WORLD, to try them that dwell upon the earth. Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown... (Rev 3:8-11)”

*All 7 of these categories are addressed in “The Seven Churches of The Book of Revelation”
