Jesus answered them and GAVE THEM THE SIGN: “When ye therefore shall see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)...” Mark reported: “But when ye shall see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand)” Luke's Report TELLS US PLAINLY what we're supposed to "UNDERSTAND": “And WHEN YE SHALL SEE JERUSALEM COMPASSED WITH ARMIES, THEN KNOW that the DESOLATION THEREOF is nigh.” The END-TIME ANNIHILATION of JERUSALEM IS THE ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION!! (Mat 24:15, Luk 21:20, Mar 13:14) ..... Let's TURN ON THE NEWS and see if armies are CURRENTLY surrounding Jerusalem?? --clark

Will Believers Remain On Earth During the Great Tribulation?

After our last post: Last Day Wrath of Satan vs. Last Day Wrath of God we received a few comments and questions.  I thought it appropriate to publish this answer in the form of a new post.  Comments are welcome (see "Comment" fields at the bottom of this article)--clark

Good morning Otto,

The Rapture/Resurrection of The Elect (alive and dead,  who have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior) will occur immediately upon the first sound of the 7th Trump.   1 Cor 15:52 says it will happen "in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump."  The elect, who have not accepted Christ, up to this moment will not be raptured.

This is where we need to understand the meaning of "Elect."  Yesterday, I re-wrote the explanation on the blog.  Please go there and use "elect" as your search word using "Find on this Page...":

Last Day Wrath of Satan vs. Last Day Wrath of God

If you come to the understanding, as I have, that Israel and Born-again-Christians are or are becoming One Body (God's Elect of whom some have not yet accepted Christ as Messiah), then my answer to this question will make sense to you.

The Bride of The Lamb is described in
Rev 21:9-14
"¶ And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.  And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,  Having the glory of God: and her [the holy Jerusalem] light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;  And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:   On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.  And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb."
John continues describing, in verses 15-27: The bride (the Lamb's wife,  that great city, the holy Jerusalem).  This is One Bride, not 2!  Ultimately, The Church and Israel are One.  The following prayer of Jesus is for all of Israel and the Gentiles:
Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their wordThat they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. (John 17:20-21)"
Back to your question Otto:
I conclude that believers will remain on earth during the full 7 years of the 70th week of Daniel because the Rapture/First-Resurrection-of-the-Dead does not take place until the 7th Trump (according to my understanding of prophecy calculations).  That being said we have to realize that...

Some of God's Elect will die... some even by murder:
"And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.  And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.  But there shall not an hair of your head perish.  In your patience possess ye your souls. (Luke 21:16-19)"

Some of God's Elect will flee to "the wilderness" to avoid taking the mark of the beast:

"Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.  For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.  But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. Luke 21:21-23)"

"And the woman [Israel] fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days. [3½ years] (Rev 12:6)"

"And to the woman [Israel] were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time [3½ years], from the face of the serpent… And the earth helped the woman…  And the dragon [“that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world”] was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.  (Rev 12:14-17)"

Some of God's Elect will have God's Hedge of protection (no matter where they are):
"¶ And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;  I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.   Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.   Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. Rev 3:7-10)"

I hope that answers your question--clark
