Jesus answered them and GAVE THEM THE SIGN: “When ye therefore shall see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)...” Mark reported: “But when ye shall see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand)” Luke's Report TELLS US PLAINLY what we're supposed to "UNDERSTAND": “And WHEN YE SHALL SEE JERUSALEM COMPASSED WITH ARMIES, THEN KNOW that the DESOLATION THEREOF is nigh.” The END-TIME ANNIHILATION of JERUSALEM IS THE ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION!! (Mat 24:15, Luk 21:20, Mar 13:14) ..... Let's TURN ON THE NEWS and see if armies are CURRENTLY surrounding Jerusalem?? --clark

End Times---Jacob's Trouble---The Great Tribulation

==>Intro (End Times/Jacob's Trouble/The Great Tribulation)

Return of The Messiah was anticipated in the early Church:

1Cr 1:7   So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:

2Peter 3:12   Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

Rev 22:16-17   I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.  And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

And now the anticipation is mounting again.  The nation of Israel was re-established  in 1948.  In 1967 the Jews recaptured Jerusalem, setting the stage for Messiah's return to His people Jerusalem "upon the mount of Olives":

Eze 36:24-26   For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.  Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

Zech 14:1-9 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.  For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.  Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.  And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives... And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.

==>Jacob's Trouble/The Great Tribulation Part 1:

Dreadful times are at hand:

Jer 30:1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,   Thus speaketh the LORD God of Israel, saying, Write thee all the words that I have spoken unto thee in a book.  For, lo, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will bring again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, saith the LORD: and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.  And these are the words that the LORD spake concerning Israel and concerning Judah.  For thus saith the LORD; We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace.   Ask ye now, and see whether a man doth travail with child? wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned into paleness?  Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.

Old Testament says:

Dan 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

New Testament fits like a glove:

Mat 24:21-22   For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.  And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

Sinning will be rampant as with Noah's day:

Mat 24:37   But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Gen 6:5-8 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.  And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.  And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.  But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

Gen 6:11-13  The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.  And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.  And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled
with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

Luk 17:26   And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.

Isa 13:9-16   Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.  For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.  And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible...  Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.  And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep that no man taketh up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his own land.  Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword.  Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.

Isa 24:3-6:  The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken this word.  The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish.  The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.  Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.

Isa 24:18-21:   And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake.  The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly.  The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.  And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.

==>Jacob's Trouble/The Great Tribulation Part 2:

In 70 A.D. the Jews (primarily the Tribe of Judah) were driven out of their land (Israel) by the Romans.  It was not until 1948 that the Jews were given back their homeland.  That's when excitement returned among Christians and Jews concerning the coming of Messiah/Christ. Christians refer to this as the second coming of Christ, where He will return to the same place where he ascended at the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem.  Those who witnessed the ascension of Jesus were told the following by 2 angels:

Act 1:11-12   ...Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.  Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet...

In 1967 the Jews recaptured Jerusalem setting the stage for Messiah's return.  This will not happen during a time of peace.  In fact this will be the time known as "Jacob's (Israel's) Trouble":

Jer 30:1-7:  The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,  Thus speaketh the LORD God of Israel, saying, Write thee all the words that I have spoken unto thee in a book.

Isaiah said this time would be Cruel (see also Matthew 24):

Isa 13:9-16:   Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.  For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.  And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.  I will make a man more precious than {scarcer than} fine gold...

IT'S TIME TO REPENT.  All of us will be judged according to our works and SIN WILL BE PUNISHED.  Those of us who have received Jesus Christ as our Savior will receive mercy whenever we turn to Him.  JUSTICE WILL PREVAIL.

FEW PEOPLE WILL BE LEFT:

Isa 24:3-6:   The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken this word.  The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish.  The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.  Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.

NO ESCAPE... NO HIDING:

Isa 24:18   And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake.

THE EARTH WILL FALL:

Isa 24:19-20:   The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly.  The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.

In Matthew 24 Jesus teaches us that these events will begin the same way as with a woman giving child.  WE ARE NOW BEGINNING THE BIRTH PAINS.  The Lord will punish many in these last days:

Isa 24:21: And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.

MANY EARTHQUAKES ARE COMING.  THE BIGGEST OF ALL IS DESCRIBED BY JOHN:

Rev 16:17-19:  And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done.  And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great.  And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.

THE HEBREW PROPHETS WARNED US OF THESE EVENTS:

Isa 13:10:   For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.

Joel 2:30-31:   And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.  The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.

THE NEW AND OLD TESTAMENTS FIT LIKE A GLOVE:

Rev 6:12-13:  And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;  And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.

Mat 24:29:  Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

FIRES WILL INCREASE:

Isa 24:6:  Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.

Rev 9:15-18: And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.  And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them.   And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone.  By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.

JESUS LOVES US.  GOD WILL STOP SHORT OF COMPLETELY DESTROYING ALL OF US:

Mat 24:22   And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

We need to get on our knees and completely "sell out" to Jesus.  Fearing God is the beginning:

Psalm 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom

==>Jacob's Trouble/The Rise of the Anti-Christ

The Bible teaches us that the last days will be very similar to the days of Noah:

Luk 17:26:   And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.

Gen 6:11-13:  The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.  And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.  And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

Just as in Noah's time:  sin has become normal and common.  People are violent and perverted.  Good is called evil and evil is called good.  When a new crises falls upon the world how will we react.  How is it that we could possibly follow the Anti-Christ?  As an example, in the first half of the 20th century, we saw how desperate nations reacted to Hitler.  They practically worshiped him because he brought them out of starvation (so they perceived).  Hitler is a symbol, or an example of an "Anti-Christ".  He is but a small warning of what's ahead.  When whole nations turn away from God, as we are doing now, we are setting the stage for Anti-Christ.  Killing babies, full-scale perversions... murdering Israelites... where does it end?...  Is mankind spiraling  into total moral bankruptcy?  Will a COLLAPSE OF THE WORLD ECONOMY, STARVATION or WORLD CATACLYSMS cause us to repent?  In our desperation will we choose good, or will we keep pushing God out of our lives?  ADD TO THIS:  NUCLEAR WEAPONS IN THE HANDS OF RADICAL ISLAM (sworn enemies of Israel/Christians), and the stage is being set for the Anti-Christ:

Dan 8:23-25:   "And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.  And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practice, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.  And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many..."

This king, spoken of by Daniel, rising up at the "latter time", is the Anti-Christ.  Jesus confirms these prophecies of Daniel as true and as being fulfilled in the last days ("the end of the world" Matt 24:3):

Mat 24:15-21:  When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation,  spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)... For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

The people are becoming like SODOM & GOMORRAH:

Isa 3:9:   "...they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves."

Apostle Paul wrote of these last days:

2Ti 3:1-4:   This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.  For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,  Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,  Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God

Sin is coming to a climax and God is allowing it:

Rev 22:11:   He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.

God will send "strong delusion," why?

(2Th 2: 10-12):  ... because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.  And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:  That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

For His Own purposes God hardens hearts at times (read about Pharaoh in Romans 9).  The world is at the point of no return.  Those who love the Truth are being separated from those who do not. The Anti-Christ will rise up but finally the Lord will reveal and destroy it:

2Th 2:8-9   And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders

Daniel saw this same thing:

Dan 8:23-25:   ...he [anti-Christ, the king who will "destroy the mighty and the holy people" of God] shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.  And the vision of the evening and the morning which was told is true: wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it shall be for many days.  And I Daniel fainted, and was sick certain days; afterward I rose up, and did the king's business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood it.

This "king" stands up and opposes Jesus.  At first he is shrewd.  He looks good.  He is skilled in intrigue.  He will cause evil to appear as good (abortion rights so girls are not "punished” with babies, "hate crime legislation", special rights for homosexuals , etc.).

People are NOW starting to see and understand these prophecies of Daniel.  THEY WERE SEALED FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS:

Dan 8:26-27   ...wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it shall be for many days.  And I Daniel... was astonished at the vision, but none understood it.

Dan 12:4-13:   But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased... And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?  And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.  Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand... But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days [it's cool to see here that Daniel will be resurrected to "stand in his lot" in these last days].

Well everybody:  It's time we WAKE UP!!  Jesus is not just our hobby. HE'S OUR LORD AND OUR KING and He is coming SOON!

  2. As a student of the prophetic word for many years, I can only say that I could not have said it better myself. Even so 'Come Lord Jesus!' Rev 22:20b
